Cheers Will - switching to a back 3/5 also means losing a spot for a winger/attacking mid unless Bakwa/Ndoye can playing wing back. Big decisions ahead, just hope we've agreed our formations and styles and will recruit accordingly!
Great post, thanks Will. Danscape put up a great post earlier too in which Bergvall's defensive work came up much higher. I wonder if he's the closest one to perhaps get one day close to everything that Elliot can do?
I'd be happy with any of these midfielders in combination, but I feel it depends so much on our tactical intentions for next season. 4-3-3 with Sangare and two '8s'?
Interested to read your other articles - I feel much less confident on Engels, but don't really have any evidence to back up this nervousness!
Thanks James! Yeah I think Bergvall makes a lot of sense to be honest - he's got a lot potential and experience for such a young age that makes him very appealing. Plus the versatility to act in a few different roles & positions. His data profile being very similar to Anderson's before we signed him is also an interesting bit of info.
4-3-3 does make a lot of sense too but I'm not sure if that's the way the club will ultimately want to go. I think we're more likely to see a switch to a 3-4-3 or 5-2-2-1, I'm not sure where Gibbs-White, McAtee & all the wingers fit if we got 4-3-3.
Engels I'm afraid I can't comment on unless it happens - but there'll be plenty of other options coming up in the next few days!
